two new galleries are up on the weird magic facebook for you to feast your eyes on:

had an incredibly fun and special experience witnessing and mingling with some amazing artists and people in mexico @ nrmal 2012 in monterrey, threw a raucous weird magic afterparty, tripped to/in the peyote-ripe ghost town of real de catorce.

hit sxsw, did a bit of djing and co-presented a little showcase, saw some amazing performances, skinny-dipped, saw sun araw play in their underwear, toured back with white ring, vibed with some serious vibers.

Drexciya x Aminata Diabate x Lamin Fofana – Unknown Journey II [world premiere]

african traditional meets drexciya? who else could pull this off as deftly as lamin fofana, current brooklyn resident who steeps his sonic brews in his african roots. here, he takes the drexciya cut, already a banger, and layers in samples of malian singer Aminata Diabate singing classic West African Mandinka song “Autorail”, adding even more depth and flavor. great work as usual, mr. fofana. will fit snugly next to that excellent brokedown city remix on our party playlist.

this edit was made while working on this mix for okayafrica.

have been in mexico for the past few days for festival nrmal and fun, you can see some of my photos on pitchfork.

i also djed and curated and organized the afterparty for the festival, and it was an eclectic round robin of vastly disparate sounds, eventually leading to a dj jam session with live vocals from prince rama, friends, liturgy and pals. salud, mexico!

i think this is a really great and worthwhile release for a lot of reasons – but it’s nice out today, and besides, i’m not in a proselytic mood
